Peter Gunn 1x16 The Fuse (1959) AIRED January 5, 1959 12:00 AM  on  NBC RUNTIME 25 m COUNTRY United States LANGUAGE English GENRES Crime A union boss's birthday starts off with a bang, and the crime boss who is the chief suspect wants Pete to clear his name before the situation gets even more explosive. Starring: Craig Stevens, Lola Albright, Herschel Bernardi Guest starring: Ross Martin Streaming on TubiTV, Hoopla, Roku, PlutoTV This TV show has one of the best theme songs ever, so at least watch for that. The quality is much better than it has any right to be for a 50's TV show. 0.7/1 Directing  0.8/1 Cinematography 0.9/1 Visual design 0.6/1 Editing 0.7/1 Plot  0.9/1 Writing 0.6/1 Acting 0.8/1 Soundtrack/Score/Sound 0.7/1 Originality 0.6/1 Rewatchability Total: 7.3/10 Binge Bones (Great) The verdict: I definitely want to watch more of these now. Very crisp noir-esque crime show.

Starring: Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson Streaming on Netflix I'm excited that this might turn into a series with a ton of movies because besides things like Bullet Train and straight up Agatha Christie remakes, mysteries really haven't been a genre that has been at the forefront of film in a very long time. I'm excited for its return. 0.9/1 Directing  0.9/1 Cinematography 0.9/1 Visual design 0.8/1 Editing 0.8/1 Plot  0.9/1 Writing 1/1 Acting 0.8/1 Soundtrack/Score/Sound 0.7/1 Originality 0.5/1 Rewatchability Total: 8.2/10 Binge Bones (A

The People We Hate at the Wedding (2022) RELEASED November 17, 2022   RUNTIME 1 h  39 m DIRECTOR Claire Scanlon WRITERS Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin   (screenplay) ,  Wendy Molyneux   (co-writer) ,  Grant Ginder   (novel) COUNTRY United States LANGUAGE English STUDIOS FilmNation Entertainment ,  Amazon Studios ,  Wishmore GENRES Comedy Save the hate. A dysfunctional family that can't seem to get along and get it together reluctantly reunites for a family wedding. As their many skeletons are wrenched from the closet, it turns out to be just what this singular family needs to reconnect. Starring: Kristen Bell, Allison Janney, Ben Platt, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Adam Godley Streaming on Amazon Prime. It's nice to see Kristen Bell and Alison Janney together, but this plays more like a pilot to a TV series more than it does a feature film. The musical scoring tells us that it doesn't trust us to pick up on comedy and overpunctuates moments in a condescending way. 0.9/1 Directing  0.6

The Recruit (2022-)

The Recruit (2022-) AIRS Friday s at  3:00 AM  on  Netflix PREMIERED December 16, 2022 RUNTIME 55 m TOTAL RUNTIME 7 h  20 m   (8 episodes) CREATOR Alexi Hawley COUNTRY United States LANGUAGE English STUDIOS Hypnotic ,  Entertainment One ,  P3 Media GENRES Drama ,  Crime A fledgling lawyer at the CIA that becomes enmeshed in dangerous international power politics when a former asset threatens to expose the nature of her long-term relationship with the agency unless they exonerate her of a serious crime. Streaming on Netflix I have only watched the first episode so far, so I obviously can't speak for the whole season. The truth is I want this to be Mindhunter. :( Oh well. I appreciate the sarcasm in the writing, but I'm not sure what this show is trying to do. Is this a Jack Ryan thing? I like cheese. Mmm... cheese. I'm totally getting some cheese after I post this. 0.2/1 Directing  0.5/1 Cinematography 0.6/1 Visual design 0.1/1 Editing 0.7/1 Plot  0.8/1 Writing 0.8/1 Acting

An escaped maniac returns to his childhood home on Christmas Eve, which is now a sorority house, and begins to murder the sorority sisters one by one. Streaming on Hulu So I just watched the original Black Christmas for the first time a couple days ago, so it's pretty fresh in my mind. One thing that made Bob Clark's version better is that the low budget aspect of it actually contributed to the creepiness and horror. This version looks better in a lot of ways, but the polish detracts from the gritty horror that helped the 1974 version succeed better at the goal it se
